Tara Nicholson

Artist and Visual Arts Professor at University of Victoria

Renée was a guest speaker for three of my Visual Arts classes and provided a unique perspective to students who are beginning to exhibit work and apply to galleries.

As a practicing artist, board member, curator, and past director of artist-run centres, Renee brings a wealth of commercial and public art experience to assist artists.

Gallery submissions, exhibition procedures, and artist grants can be very intimidating and Renée provides concrete suggestions, step-by-step guides and supportive resources for artists.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience to her courses, podcast and online materials for artists at any stage of their career."

Tyler Witzel

Artist

Renée is an excellent advisor. Throughout the years I’ve known her, I’ve admired Renée’s persistent dedication to the arts.

From her involvement in running galleries and managing exhibitions to her dealings with artists of all kinds—myself included—I’m continually impressed by Renee’s wealth of knowledge, unfaltering positivity and professionalism."

Laurie Luck

Curator & Art Publication Writer

Renée has a comprehensive understanding of the style and purpose of the written documents that contemporary artists need to support their practice, including exhibition proposals, artist statements, and grant applications.

Having worked on both sides of the equation—as an emerging artist herself, and an arts professional on selection committees— she has a nuanced understanding of what galleries and funders are looking for in proposals, as well as how artists want to represent their own practices.

Renée is passionate about supporting emerging artists and helping them attain whatever their idea of success looks like."

Kaare Iverson

Director & Photographer

For over a decade Renée has been managing gallery spaces to elevate other art, artists, and the art community.

Early in our friendship she planted a seed of wisdom about my own practice that has subtly guided my success as a commercial artist all these years later.

An incredibly honest and generous person, she also recently helped me demystify the fine-art world, exhibition, and grant opportunities.  She is a lighthouse, a beacon of hope, and a true friend to art (and to me)."

David Hutchison

Commercial & Fine Art Photographer

I found Renée very calm and patient as she helped me understand the "art" scene in Victoria.  She has an abundance of experience in the art business, which is invaluable to an artist navigating the non-profit art sector, such as myself.

I have also found Renee's podcast engaging and shows her commitment to her craft of helping others.  I am looking forward to working with Renee again in the near future to assist in my creative endeavours."
